Super easy, super delicious, this cheeseburger-style casserole definitely beats the drive-thru! Loaded with goodies and tastes just like your favorite, all-American, cheeseburger, this is sure to become a part of your rotation! So, what are you waiting for? You just found tonight’s dinner! *Warning: This casserole is highly addictive and may need to be DOUBLED!
Honestly, I could eat casserole this time a year once a week and never tire of any of them! And it’s about time that I shared one of my simple favorites!
An easy-to-make casserole that uses simple ingredients that you probably already have on hand that tastes just like a cheeseburger!
So, dig through the fridge and pantry, and take out whatever floats your boat for a burger-style meal that’s all in one pan, because this is also very easy to customize!
You simply start with hamburger and onion, and sauté until done, breaking up the meat as you go along.
Then add my seasonings and ingredients that make it taste just like your basic cheeseburger!
Now is the time to taste the meat sauce and adjust it to your own preference. Like a lot of mustard? Add more in! More ketchup? Squirt away! More relish? Hey, it’s going to be your “burger”, so go for it!
Then just cook some pasta and stir that in, too! I’ve used macaroni before, but this time I happened to have an open box of rigatoni. So, rigatoni it was! (I think I actually like it better with that, anyways!)
I SO wish that there was “smell-o-vision”! Because this casserole fills the house with such wonderful aromas, that it’s REALLY hard to wait for supper!
Now, just put the meat and pasta into a greased 13 x 9 pan…..
…top with as much cheese as you like, and pop into the oven!
While the casserole is baking, prep just enough burger toppings as you need for tonight’s meal. Otherwise, they’ll get soggy and gross by the next day. Especially when reheating.
(We kept it traditional and simple, and topped with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, bacon and onion, and then just a little extra sprinkle of cheese.)
Doesn’t it look DELICIOUS!! Here it is right out of the oven, all melty and bubbly!
Then serve up your plates with a little bread and butter on the side if you like, ….
…..and top away with whatever your burger-loving heart desires!
*You can even add a drizzle of my Copycat Big Mac Sauce , my homemade Zesty Italian Salad Dressing, or even my Thick, Rich and Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing for a nice change!
Absolutely DELISH!!!! And we even ate outside, as it was almost 60º, but HOT in the sun with no wind! Perfect day!
My hubby loves this one especially, and requests it often! This only uses 1 pound of ground beef and just 2 cups of uncooked pasta, so, if you have a family of four and would like leftovers, you might want to seriously consider doubling this!
I so hope that this Best Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe Casserole becomes as much of a favorite in your house as it does ours! Happy to share with you! Enjoy and stay safe! Covid is still out there!!! Wear your mask, please!
Best Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe Casserole
Serves about 6
Ingredients:
1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 of an onion (or one very small one), chopped small
1/4 tsp. regular black pepper
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/8 tsp. onion powder
2 Tbl. flour
1 (10 1/2 oz.) can beef consommé
1 (14 oz.) can stewed tomatoes, hand-crushed with the juice
1/4 cup ketchup
2 Tbl. worcestershire sauce
1 Tbl. sweet pickle relish
1 Tbl. regular yellow table mustard
1 Tbl. heavy mayo
2 tsp. A1 steak sauce
1/3 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese, I used Sargento’s
2 cups uncooked rigatoni
2 – 3 more cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
Optional Toppings:
shredded lettuce
diced fresh roma tomatoes
thinly sliced or finely chopped onion
crisp-cooked bacon, chopped
sprinkle of shredded cheese
dill pickle slices
drizzle of my Copycat Big Mac Sauce, ketchup, and/or mustard
Directions:
In large frying pan, sauté ground beef, onion, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, breaking up beef as it cooks. When no longer pink and thoroughly cooked, sprinkle flour over top, stir in, and sauté, stirring constantly, for 1 – 2 more minutes. Add rest of ingredients up to cheese. Stir well, and simmer over medium-low heat until reduced into a thick, but still saucy, “chili-like consistency”. Stir in cheese, remove from heat, cover and set aside.
Preheat oven to 350º.
In large saucepan or small pot, cook noodles according to directions for shortest amount of time for al dente. Drain well, and stir into beef mixture. Pour into sprayed 13 x 9 baking dish. Top with rest of cheese, as much as you like. (I added about 3 cups.)
Pop into oven and bake for 20 – 25 minutes until cheese has fully melted and casserole is bubbling. (While casserole is baking, prep your toppings so that they’re all ready to go.)
Remove from oven, and spoon onto plates. Serve hot, topped with whatever burger toppings you enjoy!
