Why are incredibly delicious sandwiches, like these Turkey Sliders for example, only “allowed” to be enjoyed once a year?? Who made that rule?? They sure didn’t ask me! 😉
One of those bags of leftover turkey stashed away in the freezer, a box of stuffing (Betty Crocker’s Homestyle is pretty good in a pinch!), a dab of gravy, a can of cranberry sauce and a dozen or so Hawaiian rolls…and you’re there!!
And while you’re at the store, pick up a can of pumpkin and a can of evaporated milk, and make a Pumpkin Pie! Another “holiday dish” that we actually enjoy year round! It’s one of our favorite pies, so why not? Right?
It’s cool and creamy, and goes down wonderfully, believe it or not, on a hot summer’s day! Enjoy what you like, when you like, I say! 😉 😀
I always like to have an extra can of that jellied cranberry sauce on hand, too, and make sure to pick up a few during the holidays while they’re on sale. But it’s not like they’re expensive or anything if purchasing any other time of the year. And you can certainly make traditional homemade stuffing, a quicker copycat version of the box, or just doctor up a purchased box in no time flat!
I prefer homemade gravy, and have an easy simple quickie recipe {here} that takes just minutes to make, and is really the only “work” involved! You can, of course, use one of those packets if that’s what you like, too.
So why not make up these simple and delicious sliders this weekend! If you don’t have any turkey left to use up before Easter, you can roast a small turkey breast for not only these delicious sliders, but have enough left over for a dinner or soups, salads and casseroles!
Good things should be enjoyed any time, not just once a year! And this is a great way to make sure that any turkey you have leftover gets used up before it’s too late, freezer burned and dried out, and no longer safe to eat.
This is the perfect time to sneak these in while it’s still bitter cold outside, you still have that one last stash of holiday turkey lurking in the freezer that needs to be used up before Easter, and in some places across the country, there’s still snow on the ground! Mini sandwiches this time of year are also the perfect size for lunch or a light supper, too! So what are you waiting for? Go for it! 😀
Hope you enjoy! Stay warm and I’ll see ya soon!
*This recipe can also be made with rotisserie chicken! These can be popped into the microwave (or low oven) and heated more if desired. (*Especially to warm the rolls and serve all at once hot!)
