Creamy Mocha Espresso Frappe with Frangelico

We are in for a week-long heat wave! It’s going to be in the 90’s and it isn’t even June yet! I say, BRING IT! I’ll be ready! 😉 Ready with the perfect drink to chill out with, literally!

This dreamy frozen concoction is whipped up with the flavors of espresso, coffee ice cream, Bailey’s Irish Cream, Frangelico (a hazelnut-flavored liqueur), and a hint of chocolate from Godiva! “Frappe” means a chilled or partially frozen coffee drink, a liqueur served over shaved ice, or a thick milkshake.

And this is a bit of an out-of-this-world combination of all three in one! If you don’t have an espresso maker, you can easily make this using instant espresso powder. The brand that I use for baking purposes is called Medaglia D’Oro, and I’m sure that would work well for you.

Luckily, we do have an espresso/cappuccino/coffee maker, one of the smartest investments we’ve ever made! Once we figured out how much money we were spending at Starbucks, it didn’t take long to pay itself off! I cannot believe how much they charge for such easy to make drinks that you can make at home just as good, if not better, and just as pretty as the pro’s!

I love making them at home, too, because then I can sneak in whatever I want. Wink, wink!

One thing I’ll warn you of though, if you’re like me, you’ll want to have one of these early. Like afternoon early. There’s a lot of caffeine in these drinks and you’ll be up all night if enjoyed too late in the day or in the evening! Unless that’s the plan, of course!

Anymore, I need one of these just stay awake long enough to watch a primetime movie! One of the pitfalls of getting up with the sun, I guess! But I love to watch the sun rise over the lake, hear the first bird awaken and chirp to wake the rest, and the ducks finding their spot, landing on the lake with a big splash!

I’ll be adding quite a few summertime coffee drinks and punches this summer, so be on the lookout for them!

Thanks, Elle!! That drink is to die for!! But I have to have it about noon, (oh, darn), because of all of the caffeine. At least that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! ;)

Wow Kelly, this sure does look amazing and mouth watering. I use all of those liqueurs to bake with, but never used them in a drink, but it sure does make you want to take a refreshing sip. You really know how to make your pictures come ALIVE. Great recipe.

I will be making a cake using Frangelico real soon. Just haven't phyched myself up for the challenge as of yet. Amazing mouth watering picture as always. Great job.
