So, for today’s amazeballs recipe, the star of the show is the classic Reese’s Miniature Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups! Perfect for #Choctoberfest, and a fall favorite by all! What’s not to love already?

So, don’t be scared. This is truly BURGER. UTOPIA.

But we’ll play with those later. First thing’s first, we need to make some simple crispy onions! I LOVE to make these for burgers to casserole toppings! Just so easy!

You just beat an egg or two egg, slice some onion, and toss together in a bowl. In a second bowl, whisk up some seasoned flour…

…add the onions and toss really well to coat nicely.

Then just toss them into a deep pan or dutch oven with hot oil, and fry them up until golden brown and crispy!

Next is the sauce! Just a 3-ingredient creamy, sweet ‘n spicy sauce of peanut butter, heavy cream, and sriracha!

Now we make the large, thin patties….

…top half of them with quartered chocolate peanut butter cups….

…place the other patties on top and seal really well so that thy don’t leak when we go to cook them. I like to also add a little pepper on top, too. Add salt later, just before cooking.

Then , grill the burgers, butter the insides of the buns and grill them, too…

…and assemble starting with some peppered and crisp-cooked bacon re-warmed in the microwave.

Then pile with lots of the crispy onions and more chopped peanut butter cups.

Then give the sauce a quick warm-up in the microwave, and ladle it all over the top!

Doesn’t that look DREAMY??!!

Then place on the top bun…..give it a little smash down….

…and get right in there!! If it’s easier for you to eat cut in half, it slices beautifully!

Many thanks to Allison and all the elves that work so hard every year to put on this incredible event! And many thanks to the wonderful sponsors that donate such fantastic prizes, and to those who provide us bloggers with product to work with! So much appreciated, everyone!

The Canadian Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Burger Kicked Up! / #Choctoberfest 2019
Yield: 4 large burgers

The Canadian Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Burger Kicked Up! / #Choctoberfest 2019

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. hamburger, shaped into 8 patties
  • 1 (10.5 oz.) bag Reese's Mini Peanut Butter Cups, 16 cut into fourths, plus more chopped to top
  • 1 medium onion, halved and sliced
  • 1 extra large egg, beaten
  • 1 cup flour, seasoned with 1 Tbl. salt and 1/4 tsp. pepper to taste
  • canola or vegetable oil for frying
  • 8 strips thick-cut peppered and crisp-cooked bacon
  • 4 Tbl. Minerva Dairy Amish Butter, softened, for buns
  • 4 sesame seed hamburger buns

For Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter, warmed
  • 6 Tbl. heavy cream
  • 1 tsp. sriracha sauce

Instructions

Make 8 thin patties out of hamburger. Top 4 patties with 4 peanut butter cups (quartered or chopped), place other patties on top, seal edges well forming into nicely sealed burgers. Lightly pepper tops, cover, chill until ready.

In medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt and pepper. In a separate bowl, whisk egg. Slice onion and toss in bowl with egg, coating well. Then add to seasoned flour, toss again, coating very well again.

In large frying pan or dutch oven, heat oil, and fry onions until deep golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels, set aside.

Heat grill. Place burgers onto oiled grates and close lid. Grill each side approximately 8 minutes depending on your grill, how thin you made each patty, and how done you like your burgers. When done to your liking, remove to a platter, loosely cover, set aside to rest. Butter insides of buns and grill until toasted inside.

In small bowl, add peanut butter and warm in microwave until stir-able. Stir in cream and sriracha until combined and creamy.

To assemble, place burgers onto bottom buns, top with warmed peppered bacon, then pile with crispy fried onions and more chopped Reese's peanut butter cups. Ladle peanut butter sauce over tops, place on top lid, and be prepared for a GREAT. BURGER. EXPERIENCE!!! Enjoy!!

What an interesting combination. I have to admit that it looks absolutely mouth wateringly amazing. I may have to step outside my box and make these.

I recently saw peanut butter on a burger and was really curious about it but didn't order it. I feel like I'm gonna have to try this! *-*

This sounds interesting. I would have never thought to put that combination together, but I bet it’s amazing! I’ll have to attempt this some time!

I saw it on a Canadian ad that showed up in my FB timeline several years ago, and I never forgot about it. I'm SO GLAD that I finally made it! It was, honest to god, absolutely DELICIOUS! (*Peanut butter is an old school diner addition to burgers; and, with the bacon, a bit of chocolate, (plus my added sauce that provides a little kick to cut the sweetness), it really ROCKED!) I do hope everyone gives it a try!!
