Sweet and Spicy Sweet Potato Fries

Sharing is caring!

The perfect way to use up those extra sweet potatoes left over from the holidays! Or a wonderful treat any time of year with burgers, sandwiches, or just a fun snack! These have a wonderful combo of sweet and spicy that’s just right, and will have everyone fighting for that last, perfect, fry!

This is SO EASY to make, you’re just going to love this!! You simply start by mixing my blend of salts and spices in a small bowl.

Then peel and slice your sweet potatoes into fries! *Make sure that you are using real sweet potatoes and not yams! There is a very big difference between the two.

Get a deep frying pan of vegetable, canola, or peanut oil hot, and carefully add them in once the oil reaches 375º F.

*Only do about 2 potatoes at a time, making sure that you have plenty of headspace at the top, so that there’s no chance of the oil bubbling over.

Give them a gentle stir, and then just let them cook until golden!

When done, remove them with a spider skimmer to a paper towel-lined colander….

…and season them with several pinches of the seasoning mix, tossing them in between each addition to evenly distribute the seasoning, and let the paper towels absorb any excess oil.

Then dump them out onto a rack placed over a baking sheet to rest just a bit! They’ll be VERY hot and you don’t want to burn your mouth, especially if feeding small children. (Or for husbands who refuse to wait until they cool a bit!)

Once they cool just a little, taste one, and then add a little more seasoning to them right over the top if you like!

Aren’t they pretty, though? I just love the gorgeous orange color!

Oh, and that killer-looking sandwich right there? That’s my Copycat Spicy Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich! A match made in heaven!

And my seasoning has a little kick to it, to balance out the sweetness!!

I’ll admit to it. I’ve never been a fan of sweet potato anything, but I fell in LOVE with these at first fry!!

And you can adjust the seasoning mixture any way that makes you do the happy dance! Add more brown sugar for more sweetness, and cut back on the hot stuff if it’s too much for you!

But these Sweet and Spicy Sweet Potato Fries are going to be your sandwich’s new best friend! I can promise you that! So be sure to pick up a couple, and try something different tonight! Enjoy!!
