What do you do when you have a craving for comfort food, but want something different? Make Asian-style comfort food! And this easy Honey Garlic Chicken uses simple pantry ingredients that all come together for you right in the crock pot!
Most simple Asian dishes are just that, too. “Comfort food”. Every country has them. And everyone around the world can all relate to busy days and hectic weeknights!
I hadn’t made this dish in ages, over 12 years actually, so this was like saying hello to an old friend! And just as comforting as I remembered!
So let the slow cooker do most of the work and cooking for you when you’re just plain worn out! Dump everything into the crock, and 3-4 hours later, you’re almost there! You can slow it down and cook the chicken longer, 6-8 hours, if that works better for you and your schedule, too!
Then, just remove the tender meat and shred it with 2 forks, then place it back into the crock. Cook the sauce and thicken it with a cornstarch slurry for a few minutes and pour it over the chicken. Give it a nice stir to mix, and heat through while you make some rice!
And supper is just that easy!!!
We enjoyed this wonderful, lightly spicy dish over a nice bed of rice, but you could also have this over crunchy chow mein noodles, if that’s more fun for the kiddos, (and easier on the cook!) 😉
The meat is so juicy and tender, that you can even turn these into Asian-style tacos topped with Asian slaw and wrapped in a warm tortilla, or even simply serve this in toasted buns or soft, sweet, King’s Hawaiian Rolls!
However you decide to present this, it’s just a nice, easy, uncomplicated supper that the whole family is sure to enjoy!
I do hope that you try this soon!
And that life slows down a bit for you to enjoy it! 😉
