This creamy and delicious coffee shooter is kind of like a melting pot of ethnic flavors just like our country is a melting pot of ethnic backgrounds. So I decided to call it, “The ‘Americana’ Coffee Shooter”, as it has lots of different heritages all representing what America is all about. Diverse people of all nations coming together as one!
And in honor of the birth of our great nation, and achieving our Independence, I’ve created this coffee cordial to enjoy on the 4th of July! You can make 4-8 “shooters” to share a toast with your friends in celebrating our Independence Day. Or, you can make 2 cocktails and serve over ice, enjoying with the one you love while watching the fireworks display!
Independence Day is a very long, all-day event, filled with picnics, barbecues, parades and then fireworks that go late into the night, and that little boost from a bit of espresso or coffee really helps! 😉
This smooth, creamy little concoction has a lot of flavor going on, too! You can either make this from brewing a shot of espresso, or even make this from a good instant brand such as Madaglia D’oro.
Or, you can simply use the leftover morning’s “bottom of the pot” coffee, which will be perfectly strong.
Have a half of a pot left over? Save aside the 2 oz. for the cocktail mixture, and freeze the rest in an ice cube tray! Use the frozen “coffee cubes” in place of regular ice if making 2 cocktails instead of shooters!
The extra coffee flavor from the Mexican Kahlua packs a nice punch, while the New York Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur and Bailey’s Irish Cream add a nice mellowness and makes this dreamy concoction sweet and creamy!
Though those are all a few of my favorites, it’s the nuttiness from the Italian hazelnut-flavored Frangelico and almond Amaretto that makes this truly divine!
And if you’re going for something even more decadent and rich, you can add a splash of heavy cream, half and half or even a bit of milk. It all depends on how you take your “coffee”. 😉
I enjoy this with or without, and I like a fair amount of cream in any type of coffee drink. It’s really delicious either way.
So just simply taste first, then add as you like, only adding a tiny bit at a time, as you don’t want to “water down” the wonderful flavors.
So if you’re looking for a special drink to share with your friends, or a romantic cocktail for 2 to watch the fireworks, you’ll want to make a small batch of this delicious, rich and creamy interfusion of diverse flavors! This concoction is truly delicious!
Have a safe, fun Independence Day everybody! 😀
The Statue of Liberty Poem:
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
