DIY Healthy Herb Ranch Seasoning | The Secret Recipe Club

For the past several weeks, I've been so excited that I was about to bust! I had to keep this a secret until now, but excited to tell you that I have been accepted into The Secret Recipe Club!! 😀 This is an incredibly fun and active group of bloggers that are secretly assigned a new person once a month. Each month you have a secret assignment to make a recipe of one your club members, and in turn, someone is assigned to you as well! So once a month, I will get to make someone else's recipe for a nice change! 😀 I'm absolutely THRILLED! 😀
Since this is my first assignment, I really wanted to find something that wasn't too complicated so that I didn't completely freak out and mess it all up! 😉 And my Secret Recipe Club member assigned to me is a super cool mom of three named Andrea! (Nice to meet you, Andrea! 😀 ) I'm so THANKFUL, on several levels, that Andrea had an easy one for me to make to get my feet wet as well as it being a much healthier version of what I've been purchasing all these years! She has a fantastic blog called Adventures In All Things Food! But that's not all! She shares many wonderful stories about her life's adventures as well as crafts and book reviews, too!
Andrea lives on a beautiful farm with her husband and three precious children growing all kinds of wonderful fruits and vegetables! They also have several pets and even raise chickens! 😀 You'll definitely want check out her blog!! 😀
Though I saw MANY recipes I would've loved to have tried, such as her new Blueberry Kefir Shortcake Biscuits, her Mediterranean Stuffed Peppers, and her Roasted Tomato and Red Pepper Soup, my tomatoes and peppers are WAY behind hers and just only starting to get a few now! Our garden got a late start due to very late, pesky frosts!
So I decided to try her copycat version of Ranch Dip Seasoning Mix! A recipe in general, that I have been wanting to try for years, but never have! Shame on me!! Like Andrea says, those packets are laden with all kinds of things that are truly bad for us, and though I usually make most things from scratch, Ranch products are something that I'm guilty of buying. I know I've bought a GAZILLION of those those little packets and it was way past time that I learned how to make it homemade. 😉
I love the way she has this written, too, because like me, she suggests additions to add and nudges you to make it the way you prefer. I pretty much stuck to her recipe though, only making minute adjustments, and simply adding only a couple of her suggestions. 😀
The only changes here are just a bit of extra garlic and onion powder, and her suggested addition of dried minced onion. 😀
I dumped all of my mixture into one of my pint jars and added all of the required amount of sour cream! I had plans of using all of it! 😉
After tasting, I added the suggested salt along with just a wee bit of sugar to mellow the tang a little. It was delicious!!!! I had to put the spoon away!!!! (I think next time, I might cut back on the dill just a bit, though, but VERY good!) 😀
About the time that I had the dip finished and chilled, it was lunchtime! 😉 This dip has so many uses, so I decided to try it out in some tuna salad! It. Was. Wonderful! 😀 I was going to add the little cherry tomatoes to it, but decided to do sliced tomatoes on top of my sandwich instead. Those li'l fresh picked tomatoes somehow "disappeared". I don't know what happened... 😉
This made for the most wonderful, peaceful and relaxing lunch, al fresco, out on the deck by the lake! I even treated myself to a glass of white wine! 😉 And it wasn't even quite noon! Sssshhhhh! 😉
But the best, by far, was enjoying this outstanding cool and creamy dip out on the deck with homemade, still warm, lightly salted, freshly crisp-fried, rustic red and sweet potato chips!! Ooooooh, yes indeedy! 😉

So, I really think you're going to enjoy this! One recipe a month, plus a link to a new foodie friend's blog, and a link to the month's amazing collection of all of the recipes made by the participating bloggers in the club! CRAZY-fun!!! 😀 Now you see why I was so excited!! 😀
Thank you to The Secret Recipe Club for letting me be a part of such a wonderful and fun monthly event! And thank you Andrea, for teaching me how to make Ranch anything now from scratch!!! No more buying those horrid little packets!! 😉 😀 Be sure to pop by her blog and say hello! 😀 At Adventures In All Things Food! 🙂

welcome to the src! what a great recipe...and i love that you used it in some tuna salad. great idea!
Welcome to SRC and Group A! I am definitely going to have to try this. It looks really easy and yummy - and we use a lot of Ranch dressing around here, so this could really come in handy.
I'm an honorary group A member this week, and loving all of the delicious recipes I'm finding. I was drooling over your lunch of a tuna salad sandwich and homemade sweet potato chips, perfect! Welcome to the club!
Thanks, April! 😀 This is really going to be a blast! I can't wait to see who I get next! 😀
Great recipe choice - being from Australia, ranch dressing isn't huge over here, so I've often wondered what exactly went into it. Now I know! 🙂
You'll have to give it a try, Leigh! And it can be used in so many different things, too! 😀
Welcome to the SRC family Kelly, you will have heaps of fun here 🙂 I'm so glad you posted this recipe, I was just contemplating picking up some from the store. Now I just have to try making it at home 🙂 And the sandwich and your homemade chips look pretty darn good too 🙂
Thanks, Trisha! 😀 It was really delicious! And went really well in the tuna salad, too! Andrea did a nice job on the recipe! 😀 Really had fun!! 😀
Nice to meet you too, Kelly! So glad you enjoyed my little blog and are joining in on the SRC fun. I am constantly modifying our herb mix for this, but it has replaced the packets in my house. I hope you don't mind if I stay awhile and take a look around your blog. Can't wait to get to know you better. Have a great week.
Please! Have a seat! 😉 I'll put on a pot of coffee! 😀 (Or if it's after noon....maybe a glass of wine, who knows! 😉 😀 ) So glad you stopped by and I hope I didn't disappoint! 🙂
This looks awesome! I am not a big fan of pre-made Ranch dressing, but I bet this homemade spice blend would make me a believer...it looks so good!
Thank you, Sara! 😀 And it's uses are literally endless! I hope you try this and have a blast with it! I sure had fun! 😀
Oh, I was so looking forward to your post, and loved it! What a great write-up, and photos!
glad to see the linking worked, so now you are on to a smooth ride with the SRC!
