2 slices white American cheese, the unwrapped kind preferably**
2 lean thick-cut slices crisp-cooked peppered bacon, torn in half
3 of my Homemade Garlic Dill Pickle Slices, or store-bought
paper-thin slices red onion
my Honey Mustard Salad Dressing, or whatever sandwich condiment you prefer
1 hamburger bun, toasted in pan of butter
Instructions
Cut into garlic bologna slices around edges 4 - 5 times cutting in about halfway or less. (*This prevents bologna from curling up while frying.)
In cast iron skillet or frying pan, add butter, and melt over medium heat. Add slices of bologna, and fry each side until both sides are lightly browned. (Turning once or twice as needed.)
Remove to a plate and top each with a slice of cheese. Cover with a domed lid to melt cheese and keep hot.
While pan of butter is hot, place buns into pan, cut side down, and toast. (When done, spread insides with my Honey Mustard Dressing or any condiments you might like such as mayo, ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, etc.)
Place bottom bun onto serving plate, top with one slice fried bologna with melted cheese, top with one slice of bacon torn in half. Repeat. Top with pickle slices and red onion.
Place on top bun and enjoy!
Notes
*I pre-bake my bacon in the oven, peppered on both sides.
**I prefer to purchase the unwrapped, sliced white American Cheese by Land O'Lakes because the slices are thicker, and less plastic goes into our landfills.
